The Historic and Haunted Ghost Town of Bodie

The old mining town of Bodie, California is America’s best preserved ghost town. Dating back to 1859, Bodie is literally frozen in time and looked after as an historic park. The town is both authentic and mysterious, with original fixtures, furniture, and personal items in the buildings left untouched since their residents abandoned them.

Bodie abounds with legends of the paranormal, but none more famous than the haunted Cain residence. The man of the house had an affair with their maid. After being publicly disgraced, the unfortunate maid took her own life and reportedly haunts the house.

The Cain house is open to the public and has provided accommodation for park rangers. People have reported ghostly apparitions and strange music. Staying overnight in the house, park rangers and their wives have experienced paranormal events such as hearing strange noises, being paralyzed in bed, and seeing items move by themselves.

The most frightening legend of Bodie is a mysterious curse that follows many visitors after they leave the town. Allegedly, Bodie’s ghosts serve as guardians to the town’s property, casting bad luck and misfortune to souvenir hunters who take anything with them.

Each month, Bodie’s park rangers receive objects and letters from people who admit to taking items and beg the rangers to put them back. The letters tell tales of horrible incidents such as mysterious illnesses, car accidents, and even death. The rangers frequently speak of these accounts and assure the senders that the objects are always returned to their original places.

His apartment was in a somewhat bad neighborhood, but it was large and rather spartan and had a huge bookshelf. She felt bold and adventurous and accepted the bourbon he poured her and stood by the window wondering when he would kiss her.

He sat in a large leather chair and sipped his drink and…

Ooooooo.

Yes, please!

Yes, please!

The Best Recurring Characters On The Office.
Jan Levenson. I wish they didn’t make her as crazy as she was towards the end because she was dynamite - full of so much ferocity and zany appeal. But then again, season 4 was full of some of her best moments on the show.
Karen Filippelli. Rashida Jones deserves so many Emmys for the consistently brilliant work she delivers on TV. If there was ever a time when it felt like Jim and Pam didn’t belong together, it was when Karen was on screen.
Holly Flax. It took me a long time to like her. It was like she was written as a reaction to Jan and meant to humanize Michael Scott. But after awhile it worked because the romance between the two started feeling real. Also, Amy Ryan is just wonderful.
The Documentary Film Crew. (Not Brian) Okay, not so much of a character or recurring at that, but the camera brought so much life to the show. The head nods to Pam when she looked to screen or the spy shots or the way the show’s main characters would react to their presence.
Mose Schrute. Family characters on the show were always hit or miss but Mose was used sparingly and hilariously enough that it worked. Somehow he always felt like a nature fit, especially with Dwight’s crazy beet farm back story and of course, the awesome hazing of Ryan.

Hogwarts Would Have Expelled The Bling Ring’s Emma Watson | Vulture

In a cast stocked mostly with unfamiliar names giving low-key performances, Watson’s supporting role is destined to be the most talked-about: Beyond the ‘good Harry Potter girl gone bad’ angle — we watch her pole dance, smoke heroin, and exhort her 13-year-old sister to crawl through Megan Fox’s doggy door — Watson is clearly having a blast with this character, and she bites down hard on her campy Valley Girl accent.

"What you really have to know is one: yourself. And the only way you can know that one is in the mirror of the others. And the only way you can see into the mirror of the others is by love or its opposite—by profound emotion. Certainly not by curiosity—by dancing around asking, looking, making notes. You have to live relationships to know."

 Chromatic Typewriter Prints

Tyree Callahan has recycled (or upcycled, perhaps) a classic 1937 Underwood typewriter by replacing letters with sponges soaked across the spectrum with bright yellows, reds, blues and combinations thereof.
